Pickleball has been around since the mid-1960s and has apparently not changed much since its creation.
The game's increase in popularity was a slow one. From the early 1970s until the late 1990s, the main demographic of Pickleball players were those living on the western and pacific northwestern coast of the United States. In the mid 2010s, the game significantly its reach across the US. The reason? It's intuitive, accessible, adaptable, and overall a very good workout.
Personally at the time of this being written, I have never played the game. I will. I promise.
What I find most interesting about the Pickleball Explosion™ (not a real trademark) is how quickly people latched on to it.
From Ellen (DeGeneres) to Ellen (your suburban neighbor, probably), Pickleball has an allure almost no one can resist.
As I continue work on this piece, more words will follow.
Peace, and Pickleball blessings to you.
